Celia Castro, Soprano
Profile

Seen here after her recent performance of Vitellia.

Ms. Castro is a sprinto/dramatic soprano whose roles include Giorgetta in Puccini's Il Tabarro at Juilliard, Rosalinda in J. Strauss' Die Fledermaus with Amato Opera, Violetta in Verdi's La Traviata with Opera Amici, the title role in Luisa Miller with Opera Nova and many others. She has performed in many concerts here in the U.S., including a Bel Canto Concert with Caramoor Festival in upstate New York and also abroad in Italy and Germany.

Ms. Castro has recently returned to school as a full time student attending Rutgers University with an eye towards exploring the way that singing and the psyche interact. She is very excited about what this can do for her vocal pedagogy practice in the future and what it can do for her future performances.

To honor her Spanish heritage, she has sung in local recitals offering Spanish songs and zarzuela arias. She has been concertizing in the tri-state area and so far her favorite experiences include working with Maestro Crutchfield at Caramoor Festival in upstate New York and getting to perform the role of Vitellia in Mozart's Clemenza di Tito with One World Symphony on the eve of Mozart's birthday!

Ms. Castro is a Native New Yorker who has relocated to NJ and currently teaches in her private studio Edison, New Jersey and continuing to sing.
